Ashraya

"Ashraya" (meaning "shelter") was founded and registered in 1982, by a group of Child Welfare professionals, has brought hope and love into the lives of several hundred children over these years. The Bangalore-based organization is committed to finding solutions for children within the framework of their own biological families, or in adoptive homes. They believe that institutions would only be a temporary shelter for children.

Sudatta

Sudatta (in Sanskrit, "su" means "good" and "datta" means "adoption", literally "adoption" is good") is an adoptive parents association which was formed to bring together adoptive families and sensitize society at large about the issues related to adoption. Sudatta feels every child should be given the opportunity to grow to its full potential in the ambience of a family. By coming together as an association, adopted children are provided a sense of belonging and tegetherness.

 
 

Sri Rakum School for the Blind

The Sri Rakum School for the Blind was opened in 1998. The school was founded for children who were born blind or were visually impaired. As a facility to provide the best education for boys and girls who are blind, the school has never wavered from this mandate. Besides classroom teaching, Rakum emphasizes the acquisition of life skills. Teachers and volunteers collaborate on planning and implementing effective, educational programs that are tied into the Indian educational system. Residential facilities are available for students who live in the city and the outlying districts. Some pre-school-age students with the single disability of blindness; their early training will prepare them for eventually completing their school, college and vocational education.

 

Charity begins at home. Pursuing the SI has initiated a women forum to identify, encourage and nurture the women talent. The focus of the groiup is to make SI The employer of choice for women and to be a sounding board for women to resolve issues.
